Betsy
Davis has been creating hand-painted backdrops for
TV, commercials,
motion
picture,
theatre
productions,
and display for nearly twenty years.
One of Betsy's very first
commissions
was for famed fashion photographer Patrick
Demarchelier. Most recently you can see her presence
in Spike Lee's "When
the Levees Broke". Over the years Betsy has built a stock
of close to 300 backdrops available for daily
and weekly rentals.
When
she arrived in NYC, Betsy took advantage of another skill,
sewing, and began working as a theatrical costume maker. Now,
she marries those complimentary skills and will create both painted
and sewn custom commissions to your specifications.
In
1990, Betsy expanded her business to include decorative
painting (Venetian stucco, faux bois, etc.), murals, custom
window treatments (roman shades and drapes), pillows, cushions
and slipcovers. She works with a series of designers and
architects providing custom work for interiors, both residential
and commercial.
In
2000, Betsy discovered yoga and began studying with Dana
and Jasmine at Laughing
Lotus. She went on to do her teacher training
there and now teaches at both Laughing Lotus and her own
studio in Manhattan. You can see Betsy's custom decorative
painting and drapes at Laughing Lotus in New York City
and coming soon to Laughing Lotus San Francisco.
Betsy
has her own thriving fine
art painting practice and has shown her work in solo and
group exhibitions. Her awareness of color theory is expansive
and she is now available for color consultation.
